Identify Your Child’s Triggers
Being able to identify how our kids are feeling and what they are thinking just before and just after a misbehavior is HUGE in understanding how to prevent poor choices from happening again in the future.
A trigger is something that occurs in response to a thought or situation. Children are triggered by common situations such as:
- being asked to do something they don’t want to do
- being told, “No”
- craving attention
- sibling rivalry
- lack of sleep
- family stress
Regardless of the reasons, parents can work with their kids to identify behavior triggers as a way to find solutions that can pave the way for positive choices.
